The Crane Operator will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the crane, overseeing the rigging crew to ensure the crane is built as per the OEM specifications.
Key responsibilities include:
* Safely operate the crane to lift, move, position, and place loads as per job requirements.
* Conduct pre-operation inspections of the crane, checking for any mechanical issues or malfunctions and ensuring that the crane is in safe working condition.
* Monitor load weights and follow load charts to ensure operations are within the crane's lifting capacity and working to the lift study.
* Communicate with riggers radios, or other means to coordinate lifting activities.
* Strictly adhere to safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards during all crane operations.
* Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on the crane as needed, reporting any issues that require attention to the maintenance team.
* Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to stay up-to-date with safety practices and operational procedures.
* Immediately report any safety incidents, equipment malfunctions, or near misses to the Crane Supervisor or Site Supervisor.
* Complete any required job-related paperwork, such as daily checklists, safety reports, and equipment logs.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Crane operator with super lift experience.
* Proven experience with various rigging equipment and techniques.
* Familiarity with load charts, crane dynamics, and rigging calculations.
* In-depth knowledge of crane operation, load dynamics, and lifting techniques.
* Strong understanding of safety regulations, industry standards, and load charts.
* Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination for precise control of the crane.
* Effective communication skills, with the ability to understand and follow instructions and signals from riggers and supervisors.
* Problem-solving skills to quickly address any issues that arise during operations.
