About the role
This newly created role will be instrumental in the on-going growth of Longtrail Farms. Reporting directly to a commercially astute and dynamic Managing Director
* Lead financial operations, ensuring timely month-end close, payroll, BAS lodgement, management reporting, and collaboration with external accountants on financial statements.
* Oversee the Accounts Assistant and collaborate with operational and leadership teams, building a deep understanding of the company from the ground up.
* Partner with the leadership team to shape investment decisions, contracts, and capital planning.
* Deliver commercial modelling, budgeting, and variance analysis to drive business performance.
* Own the internal capital allocation analysis opportunities and help direct funding to the investments that offer the best returns.
* Oversee insurance programs, board reporting, banking compliance, and shareholder communications.
* Implement process improvements and financial systems to support sustainable growth.
* This is a role where you'll get across every dollar in the business, with the insights you provide directly supporting the Managing Director and leadership team in shaping strategy as the company continues to scale.
Skills and experience
You've spent a few years in a Big 4 or mid-tier firm, built strong foundations in accounting and compliance, and now you're ready to step into a role where you can make a real impact. We're looking for someone who is:
* Proven ability to coordinate accurate information across multiple internal and external stakeholders, including Multinational Companies
* Degree qualified in Commerce/Accounting (CA/CPA desirable).
* Experienced in professional services, finance, or a commercial role (2–5 years post-grad ideal).
* Commercially minded with strong analytical and reporting skills.
* Champion AI and modern analytics to drive automated reporting and live dashboards.
* Hands-on and adaptable, with a "get things done" mindset.
* An excellent communicator, able to engage with everyone from farm teams to banks and board members.
* Exposure to agriculture or fast-paced operational environments is highly regarded.
