This role will see you enhance your capabilities and the reputation of WSP’s Mining & Energy Capital Projects team. You will collaborate with talented professionals working on iconic projects to drive future ready outcomes that will benefit clients and communities.
As an Area Manager / Senior Project Engineer, you will drive the successful delivery and completion of a heavy haul rail infrastructure project for a tier 1 mining client. This role will see you joining the project at the detailed design phase, with potential to follow the project into execution.
What you’ll do :
* Monitor progress and performance against the project plan and when required, take action to resolve problems and minimise risks and delays.
* Monitor and control cost performance against the plan, and develop and implement project controls, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
* Ensure work undertaken complies with the scope and meets quality and operational requirements.
* Prepare schedules for design work and obtain approvals for flow sheets and drawings.
* Develop project schedules, budgets and forecasts.
* Interface with the client and cultivate positive relations to achieve effective communication and collaboration across teams.
About You
You’re likely to be an experienced Area Manager or Senior Project Engineer with previous experience working on rail projects and a demonstrated understanding of the detailed design engineering process.
In addition, you will bring the following skills and attributes :
* Bachelor of Engineering degree and 8+ years of experience in project engineering and management.
* Demonstrated experience working on rail projects and a strong understanding of the rail project delivery process.
* Previous rail shutdown experience will be an advantage.
* Strong background in developing and implementing schedules, cost estimates and coordination.
* Proven project management skills and demonstrated ability to deliver work within the agreed budget, timeframe and customer requirements.
