Clear.ai builds AI-first software that accelerates freight. Join us to build the accounting layer the industry has been waiting for.
Global trade runs on complex, high-stakes operational workflows: shipments, customs entries, documents, duties, disbursements, invoices, credit notes, reconciliations, and month-end reporting. Much of this still happens through legacy systems, spreadsheets, emails, manual checks, and specialized knowledge. Freight cannot accelerate while finance is the bottleneck.
Our software is being rapidly adopted by modern freight forwarders and customs brokers who want to reduce manual work, improve compliance, and run more accurate operations.
Now we are looking for a Product Manager — Accounting & Billing to help build one of the most important parts of the platform: how financial workflows work inside Clear.ai.
This is not a traditional "write requirements and hand them to engineering" product role. It is a customer-facing, AI-first product role. You will work directly with customers, finance users, customs brokers, engineers, and leadership to understand messy real-world accounting workflows — then turn them into simple, scalable, intelligent product.
What you'll own
You'll directly own Clear.ai's accounting and billing module, including product decisions on:
* Billing & AR/AP — invoicing, job charges, credit notes, corrections, and reversals
* Cost & disbursement — cost bills, duties, taxes, pass-through costs, multi-currency and tax-sensitive scenarios
* Controls & audit — approvals, invoice locking, role permissions, audit trails, and correction handling
* Close & reporting — charge codes, chart-of-account mappings, accruals, journal entries, month-end workflows, reconciliation, and exception handling
* Integrations — Xero, CargoWise, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, and more
Your job is to make these workflows accurate, auditable, fast, and delightfully easy to use — even when the underlying customer reality is complex.
How we work
Clear.ai ships fast. We believe the best product people are close to users, close to the work, and close to engineering — sitting with a finance user, understanding why an invoice is wrong, mapping the accounting logic, identifying the product gap, and helping ship the fix.
Our approach to AI:
* Clear.ai is an AI-first company. That does not just mean we build AI features — it means we use AI as a baseline way of working.
* We expect and train up everyone here to be fluent with modern AI tools: Claude Code, Cursor, agent harnesses, workflow automation, and whatever comes next.
* Our bias is to ship same-day when we can, learn from real usage, and iterate fast. We would rather put something useful in front of operators this week than perfect a theoretical roadmap for next quarter.
What you'll do
* Work directly with customers to understand accounting, billing, and finance pain points.
* Translate real-world finance operations into clear product logic and specifications.
* Define how invoices, credit notes, accruals, disbursements, and journal entries should behave.
* Partner closely with engineers to ship features quickly and safely.
* Investigate accounting-related support issues to determine whether they are bugs, configuration gaps, training issues, or product opportunities.
* Design product controls for sensitive finance workflows.
* Build repeatable accounting configuration patterns for customs brokerage and logistics customers.
* Support rollout, documentation, training, and customer adoption.
* Bring finance-domain judgment into product and engineering decisions.
What we're looking for
* An accounting degree and real world experience in accrual accounting, finance operations, billing, AR/AP, and financial system implementation.
* Strong grasp of journal entries, credit notes, accruals, reconciliations, revenue/cost treatment, and audit controls.
* Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.
* Strong written communication — you can explain complex workflows clearly.
* Comfort working directly with customers and internal teams.
* Ability to distinguish between "the system currently works this way" and "the product should work this way."
* A practical, builder mindset: you care about shipping useful product, not just documenting process.
Nice to have
* Experience in freight forwarding, customs brokerage, logistics, or supply chain.
* Experience with job costing, shipment billing, duties/taxes, disbursements, landed cost, or pass-through charges.
* Product management, business analyst, implementation, or solutions experience.
* Familiarity with accounting APIs or ERP configuration.
The kind of problems you'll solve
* Here's how it used to be done — how can we do this better?
* How do we turn a customer-specific workflow into a reusable, AI-powered capability?
* What parts of this workflow can AI automate, and where do humans still need control?
Who you are
Detail-oriented, but not bureaucratic. You care about accounting correctness, but you also understand that software must be usable by busy operators. You are comfortable with ambiguity and willing to get close to messy customer workflows. You can speak with a finance controller, a customs broker, and an engineer — and translate between all three.
You are excited by the idea that AI can transform industries that have historically been too complex, manual, and fragmented for traditional software to fully modernise.
