About the Role
Curry Cravings is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations. Known for our authentic Indian cuisine, flavourful curries, tandoori specialties, biryanis, vegetarian favourites, and traditional street-style dishes, we are committed to delivering exceptional food and memorable dining experiences to our customers. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated culinary professional with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of Indian cuisine. As our Head Chef, you will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, maintain high food quality standards, drive menu innovation, and lead a dedicated team in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
* 1. Manage and oversee all daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality food production.
* 2. Develop and update menus, standardise recipes, and control food and labour costs to achieve profitability targets.
* 3. Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes as per menu.
* 4. Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff while fostering a positive and productive team culture.
* 5. Monitor food preparation and presentation standards to ensure consistency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
* 6. Manage inventory, supplier relationships, purchasing activities, and stock control while minimising waste.
* 7. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety, and regulatory requirements.
* 8. Coordinate kitchen staffing, rostering, performance management, and operational planning to support business objectives.
* 9. Analyse customer feedback, menu performance, and industry trends to develop new dishes, seasonal specials, and innovative menu offerings.
* 10. Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance, arrange repairs and servicing, and ensure all equipment is operated safely and efficiently.
* 11. Plan, coordinate, and supervise food preparation.
* 12. Implement inventory control measures, portion management practices, and waste reduction initiatives to maximise operational efficiency and profitability.
* 13. Collaborate with management to develop business strategies, improve kitchen operations, and support the achievement of organisational goals.
What We're Looking For
* 1. Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management (or equivalent qualification).
* 2. Minimum 1 year of experience as a Chef.
* 3. Strong knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine, including curries, tandoori dishes, biryanis, vegetarian specialties, and traditional cooking techniques.
* 4. Proven skills in kitchen management, menu planning, food costing, stock control, purchasing, and supplier coordination.
* 5. Excellent leadership, communication, organisational and team management skills, with the ability to train and supervise staff effectively.
* 6. Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, quality assurance, cost control, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
