About The Role

As a Senior Economic Analyst, you'll use your expertise in economics, statistics, and modelling to uncover insights that shape training investment decisions. You'll work with a supportive team of subject matter experts to explore labour market trends, evaluate programs, and develop models that inform policy and strategy.

More Specifically, You Will


* Analyse labour market and training data to identify trends and support evidence-based subsidy decisions.
* Develop models to assess the impact of policy and strategy changes on the VET market.
* Evaluate skills and participation programs to identify areas for improvement.
* Communicate findings clearly and effectively to stakeholders through reports and presentations.
* Identify gaps in the Department's evidence base and contribute to the development of new datasets.
* Promote a safe, inclusive, and ethical work environment aligned with public sector values.
* Deliver high-quality customer service in line with DSD principles and standards.

Key Competencies

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
* Strong understanding of economic theory and statistical practices.
* Experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, R, or Python (or a willingness to learn).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* A growth mindset and collaborative approach to teamwork.

Remuneration

Competitive salary $85,790 to $95,143 pa plus superannuation

Qualifications
* Essential: Tertiary qualifications in a degree relevant to the position, preferably economics or statistics.

Special Conditions
* The role will be offered as a full-time (37.5 hours per week), 12-month contract position.
* A Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) and Working with Children Check will be required prior to employment.
