Our client is a well-established service provider to medical specialists who have been providing anaesthetic and perioperative medicine services at the Wesley Hospital campus. This group of medical specialists have built a reputation among surgeons and patients for providing safe, reliable, compassionate and quality healthcare. 
An opportunity has presented for an enthusiastic and mature-minded Accounts Administrator/Medical Secretary to join their team in Milton on a full-time basis. This practice continues to increase in size and currently has 31 practitioners all of whom are specialist anaesthetists in private practice. 
This prospect will offer the right candidate a dual role of 60% Accounts Administrator and 40% Medical Secretary duties (approximately). Hours are generally 8am-5pm. 9 day fortnight is also offered. You will work closely with an allocated number of anaesthetists (8) for whom you will provide dedicated support to. This position is situated ‘back of house’ therefore would be best suited to a candidate not seeking a position where daily, face-to-face patient contact is preferred.

Key duties and responsibilities 
- Professional handling of telephone and email enquiries from all stakeholders, assisting specialists with general enquiries and distributing messages to the relevant specialists in a timely manner 
- Review outstanding accounts – 30, 60, 90 days – to ensure effective oversight of the debt collection process, and, when necessary, act as a point of escalation for overdue accounts 
- Accurately and efficiently processing all patient quotes and billing and liaising closely with the relevant third parties and referring specialists rooms for any additional information required to confirm theatre lists 
- Providing patients with informed financial consent and quotes, accounts and receipting patients for clinical procedures 
- Support the specialists with general administration tasks such as seeking patient medical records 
- Managing daily task lists and email correspondence on a daily basis 
Qualifications and attributes 
- At least 12 month’s prior experience working within the healthcare industry, any prior experience working within a clinical, specialist practice or hospital-based setting will be viewed favourably 
- A sound understanding of Medicare, Work Cover, DVA and health fund claiming 
- An exemplary telephone manner and a compassionate demeanour 
- A strong desire to provide a high level of service to the patients and specialists 
- Proactive with strong time management and organisational skills along with the ability to prioritise your workload 
- An ability to juggling multiple priorities within tight timeframes whilst still demonstrating attention to detail 
- Competency in Microsoft 365, previous experience with MediTrust software or similar highly regarded 
- A positive ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to contribute to a high performing team 
Remuneration and benefits 
Salary will be in the range of $ 35-38 per hour plus 12% Superannuation. Staff parking is available at a subsidised rate. Public transport and other amenities in Auchenflower are located nearby.
