About this opportunity
We need volunteers who can assist community members to complete both paper and on-line forms, to read, help comprehend and/or type up letters as required.
Provide a weekly pre-booked form-filling service for members of the community. These are clients who need assistance with official forms of all kinds, including Government and Housing applications. This need may be due to low literacy levels, or for those for whom English is a second language. These forms will often be on-line.
* The Volunteer will be required to populate and complete the forms with information provided by the client. The Volunteer must ensure they are only documenting information as provided by the client. The client is required to sign a ‘disclaimer statement’ identifying they have provided the information.
* The Volunteer can nominate the day and time for bookings within the time the room is available. Skills required –
o High level of literacy
o Good computing skills
o Ability to work in Word
o Ability to use on-line programs and navigate on-line forms
o Use of interpersonal skills to understand and assist clients in order to complete forms as required.
o Ability to recognize underlying issues and tactfully refer to CSCI or other services
o Ability to communicate confidently and effectively by phone with other services and organizations.
o Adhere strictly to confidentiality
