Profectus is seeking an experienced Senior Integration Architect to deliver and support a range of complex ICT projects and programs within an Australian Government environment. You will work directly with IT, business stakeholders, and Agile Delivery Teams to provide strategic and technical guidance, and lead the development of integration-centric solution architectures. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in a meaningful context, supporting systems that directly enable the delivery of nationally significant Government services.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development of architectures for complex, integration-centric solutions, with a strong focus on data flows, system interactions, and consistency with agreed business and information requirements
* Provide technical leadership, governance, and assurance across solution development, with particular emphasis on system integration patterns, data exchange mechanisms, and master data management (MDM) approaches
* Design and govern end-to-end integration architectures, including APIs, event-driven messaging, batch and near-real-time data integration, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, and fit-for-purpose
* Identify and evaluate alternative integration and data architecture options, including trade-offs across cost, performance, data latency, data quality, and operational complexity
* Produce high-level architecture specifications for cloud-based and/or on-premises platforms, components, and interfaces, including data integration services, integration runtimes, canonical data models, and interface contracts, for translation into detailed designs
* Manage and coordinate target integration and data architectures across multiple projects, work streams, or initiatives, ensuring architecturally significant decisions are documented, traceable, and aligned with enterprise standards
* Contribute to the establishment and ongoing maintenance of integration and data architecture principles, patterns, and standards, including those relating to master data, reference data, data ownership, and data lifecycle management
* Ensure relevant technical strategies, policies, standards, and practices (including security, privacy, and data governance) are applied consistently across integration solutions and data flows
* Review and assess requests for change, exemptions, or deviations from approved architectures, particularly where they impact data integrity, interoperability, or master data alignment, and provide recommendations to delegates and governance forums
* Work collaboratively as part of Agile delivery teams or business-as-usual environments, providing architecture guidance throughout discovery, delivery, and operational phases
* Perform other architecture-related duties as directed by Directors, Team Leaders, or delegates
Required Experience
* 5+ years of demonstrated experience working as an Integration or Solution (Application) Architect on a large-scale transformation project or program
* Proven experience designing applications, integrations, and solutions for traditional on-premises, cloud, and hybrid cloud environments
* Proven experience designing and documenting applications that meet business requirements and align with strategic vision and operational constraints
* Demonstrated technical proficiency and experience using Microsoft 365, Azure DevOps, Azure API Management, Azure Application Service Environments, Azure Functions and Logic Apps, and Azure Service Bus
* Knowledge of and experience using various Microsoft and industry frameworks, including Blazor, React and other Single Page Application Frameworks; OpenAI and HATEOAS; asynchronous integration frameworks; composable applications frameworks; and data microservices
* Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to distil technical information in Plain English and communicate with influence
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, including the ability to translate clearly between technical teams and business areas
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to effectively manage risk and deliver fit-for-purpose applications and solutions
* Tertiary qualifications or industry recognised certification in Information Management, Computer Science, or a relevant discipline
* Strong skills in Archimate (3.1) as an architecture documentation and definition language
* Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale ICT transformation projects or programs, preferably in a Commonwealth Government setting
* Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth Government frameworks, including ICT frameworks
* Demonstrated understanding of Agile ways of work (e.g. SCRUM, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework [SAFe] or similar)
* Prior experience working within Federal Government or similarly complex, highly regulated environments
Security Requirements
* Must be an Australian Citizen
* Must hold a minimum Baseline and be able to obtain NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) Security Clearance
Working Arrangements
* Hybrid working arrangement based in Canberra, Brisbane, or Sydney
