We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to provide care and support to children with disabilities in our community.
Position Overview 
The Disability Support Worker will assist children with disabilities in their daily activities, promoting their independence and supporting them in achieving their goals. You will work closely with the families and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the children’s physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met. This role is both rewarding and challenging, requiring a genuine passion for making a positive impact on the lives of children with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care and Support:
- Assist children with daily living tasks such as personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility, based on their individual needs. Provide support to children with physical and intellectual disabilities, tailoring assistance to each child’s requirements.
- Implement Support Plans:
Follow individual care plans and support strategies as outlined in the NDIS plan. Assist in the development and review of these plans in collaboration with the family, team leader, and other healthcare professionals.
- Behaviour Support:
Support children with behavioural challenges by implementing positive behaviour support strategies. Ensure a calm and protected environment for children, promoting positive behaviour and de-escalating challenging situations when necessary. Encourage and assist children in participating in social, recreational, and community-based activities to promote inclusion and engagement. Support children in developing life skills and achieving personal goals through structured activities. Foster positive relationships with children, families, and carers. Advocate for the rights and needs of children with disabilities, ensuring their voice is heard in all aspects of care. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care and progress, including daily logs, incident reports, and feedback on the child’s development and wellbeing. Report any changes in the child’s condition or needs to the team leader and families. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times, both in the home and during community outings. Follow all health and safety policies, including infection control procedures, and respond appropriately in case of emergencies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, or related field (or willingness to complete).
- Previous experience working with children with disabilities, particularly in a support worker or care role, is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of NDIS and disability support services.
- Knowledge of child development and behaviour management strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of children with disabilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Additional Requirements:
- A valid Working with Children Check is required for this role.
- A current police check (within the last 12 months).
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle may be required for community outings.
- Flexibility to work across various shifts, including weekends and school holidays, depending on client needs.

Job Type: Subcontract
Pay: $30.00 – $70.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 37.5 per week
