Due to continued growth, we are seeking a highly skilled Structural/Mechanical Engineer with proven previous experience in crane design to join our dynamic team.
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced engineer with at least 5 years in the design of overhead gantry cranes, including jib cranes, portal cranes, monorails and hoisting systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical and structural design principles, compliance with Australian Standards, and the ability to deliver innovative, safe, and cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (or higher qualification).
* Minimum 5 years' experience in the design of overhead gantry cranes, hoists, and jib cranes.
* Proficiency in Inventor, AutoCAD (2023 or later) & SpaceGASS
* Strong understanding of mechanical and structural design principles, engineering analysis, and load calculations.
* Demonstrated experience in FEA, stress analysis, and fatigue analysis.
* Knowledge of Australian Standards (AS1418 series) and state-specific crane regulations is essential.
* Current registration with Engineers Australia (CPEng) or ability to obtain within 12 months.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
* Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across design and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Design & Development: Engineer mechanical and structural components for overhead cranes, hoists, trolleys, and bridge structures, ensuring compliance with AS1418 and safety regulations.
* Engineering Analysis: Perform static and dynamic structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and design of steel structures including crane supports, gantry systems, hoists, and bridges.
* Technical Documentation: Preparation of detailed structural drawings, shop drawings, fabrication documents, technical reports, and engineering calculations complying with Australian and international standards.
* Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to integrate designs into production and provide technical guidance during fabrication and installation.
* Testing & Validation: Conduct prototype testing and design validation to meet safety and performance standards.
* Compliance & Safety: Ensure designs meet all applicable standards and participate in risk assessments and safety reviews.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive design improvements and cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
