The Opportunity
We are seeking an experiencedHR Advisorto join our team on a12-month contract.
This is a true generalist role, suited to a confident, proactive HR professional. You will work closely with internal teams across the organisation, while also providing practical HR and industrial relations advice to MTA WA members operating in the WA motor industry.
Balancing internal HR support with member-facing advisory work, this role requires strong judgement, initiative and the ability to manage a broad range of people and workplace matters with professionalism and credibility.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where priorities can change quickly, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Internal HR Support
* Provide end-to-end HR generalist support across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
* Partner with leaders to build confidence and capability in managing people matters, providing practical guidance and support.
* Manage cyclical and operational HR processes including maintaining employee records, coordinating training, and supporting HR initiatives and events.
* Manage day-to-day transactional HR activities in a fast-paced operational environment.
Member Advisory Services
* Provide timely, practical, and commercially sound HR and IR advice to MTA WA members.
* Advise on matters including wages, award interpretation, performance management, misconduct, termination, and compliance with employment obligations.
* Interpret and apply State and Federal employment legislation, industrial awards, and regulatory requirements.
* Monitor legislative changes and translate updates into clear, practical guidance for internal teams and members.
* Develop, review, and maintain HR guides, tools, templates, and compliance resources to support consistent, compliant, and best-practice outcomes.
About You
Experience & Knowledge
* Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a HR generalist or advisory role.
* Solid understanding of employment legislation.
* Practical and commercially minded, with the ability to provide clear, actionable advice.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex matters to diverse audiences.
* Highly organised and adaptable, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Maintains confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive issues.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels.
