POSITION SUMMARY
At Kyabra, our Sunshine Coast teams provide support to a range of community members towards achieving their personal aspirations/goals and development using a strength-based approach. Service work primarily focuses on working alongside community members who are at-risk of homelessness and/or domestic and family violence while supporting them in navigating the systems and circumstances that significantly impact their lives such as child protection, living on a low income, healthcare (mental and physical), education and legal services etc.
The Accommodation and Domestic and Family Violence (ADFV) team is responsible for providing information, assessment and referral services, and case management support to those in supported accommodation (including Kyabra's shelter), and to clients accessing support through Kyabra's Mobile Domestic and Family Violence (MDFV) service.
The Case Worker, ADFV, will ensure that the most appropriate and effective support services are provided to those experiencing domestic and family violence and unstable housing by providing case management support to a range of individuals and families to support aspirations, growth and positive change.
The position involves both centre-based and outreach functions involving coordinated work with a range of agency, community and staff resources. The successful candidate will also be required to be on an on-call roster.
Hours of Work
The successful candidate is expected to work 76h 00m per fortnight. Part-time candidates will not be considered at this time.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Qualifications & Training
* Tertiary qualification (bachelor's degree or higher) in social work, human services and/or another relevant field.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience working in, the community services sector inclusive of experience in one or more of the following areas: early intervention to homelessness, domestic and family violence, case management of community members with multiple complexities, and trauma-informed and recovery-based practices.
* Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act, Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act, and/or other relevant legislation within the human/community services sector.
* Demonstrated experience in the provision of people-centred and solution-focused approaches to service delivery and development.
* Understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of social justice, as well as a demonstrated capacity to work in ways that focus on people's strengths.
* Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively (as a team) or autonomously.
History Checks & Clearances
This position must have, or be eligible to attain, a satisfactory/positive result for the following:
* Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
* Open driver's license (Queensland).
Desirable
* Demonstrated understanding of the issues/barriers facing people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and/or domestic and family violence, including ways to resolve or improve these issues.
* Knowledge of client management systems and the ability to rapidly learn new ones such as SRS, QHIP and/or other systems/databases.
* Existing industry relationships/networks or the ability to rapidly build these.
