FIFO Laboratory / Field Technician – Construction Materials Testing

Civitest WA Pty Ltd is a leading NATA-accredited construction materials testing (CMT) company with over 40 years of industry experience. We provide high-quality soil, concrete, and aggregate testing services across Western Australia, supporting major civil, mining, and infrastructure projects. Due to ongoing growth, we are seeking motivated and reliable FIFO Laboratory / Field Technicians to join our team with an immediate start available.
About the Role
Working on a FIFO roster from Perth to regional and remote project sites, you will be responsible for a wide range of field testing and laboratory testing tasks. This includes compaction testing (nuclear density gauge), as well as CBR testing, permeability testing, Atterberg limits (PI), particle size distribution (PSD), maximum dry density (MDD), and concrete sampling. You will ensure results are delivered accurately and on time, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field sampling and compaction control testing using nuclear density gauges and other test methods
- Perform laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, and concrete to Australian Standards
- Undertake specialised tests such as CBR, permeability, PSD, MDD, and PI
- Accurately record, interpret, and report test results in line with NATA requirements
- Maintain calibration, cleanliness, and reliability of all testing equipment
- Comply with company safety, environmental, and quality procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in construction materials testing (field and/or laboratory)
- Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent (highly regarded)
- White Card and current manual driver’s licence
- Ability to pass or hold a current FIFO medical and drug & alcohol screen
- Robust attention to detail with a commitment to safety and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and in a team on remote projects
