Glide Products is a privately owned Western Australian company, established in 1974 and ISO 9001 certified. As one of Australia's leaders in the manufacture of powered and manual wheelchairs, we are seeking an experienced Upholsterer to join our team.
We are looking for a skilled individual with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and productivity. The ideal candidate will have excellent sewing skills, the ability to follow specific instructions, and utilize precision measuring instruments.
The successful applicant will be responsible for altering, mending, and modifying wheelchair fabrics. This includes cutting out patterns, stapling, and gluing components, as well as sewing various fabrics such as fabric, foam, rubber, and leather or leather-like materials.
Key Responsibilities:
* Alter, mend, and modify wheelchair fabrics
* Cut out patterns, staple, and glue components and fit covers
* Sew various fabrics including but not limited to fabric, foam, rubber, and or leather or leather like fabric
Requirements:
* Excellent sewing skills
* Ability to follow specific instructions based on needs of an item
* Ability to utilize precision measuring instruments
* Experience within a Small Medium Enterprise (SME) manufacturing environment
* Demonstrated safe use of sewing machines and standard sewing hand tools
* Team player with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and achieving high levels of productivity
* Understanding of work processes and ability to read and follow procedures and work instructions
* Ability to learn and develop technical and product knowledge
* Ability to work with a sense of urgency against competing deadlines
* Sound time management skills with a high attention to detail and focus, especially whilst undertaking repetitive tasks
* Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels within an organization
* Basic computer and information technology skills
* Ability to build and maintain internal working relationships which contribute to a harmonious, efficient, and productive working culture
Benefits:
* Competitive hourly rate: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
* Expected hours: 38 per week
* Monday to Friday schedule
* Australia work authorisation required
* Wangara, WA 6065 location preferred
Others:
* Onsite parking available
* Relocation to Wangara, WA 6065 required before starting work
* National Police Clearance (valid within the last 6 months) required at the applicant's expense
