Communications Infrastructure
Join a leading mining operation as a Project Engineer supporting critical communications infrastructure projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and coordinate engineering efforts across multiple high-impact initiatives, while also supporting business-as-usual documentation and legacy systems.
Contract duration: 8-9 months, 2-3 days per week

Your new role
To provide dedicated project engineering support for the Skid Relocation Project, ensuring technical quality, schedule adherence, and risk mitigation, while also supporting the BAU communications engineering team with legacy documentation and ongoing technical support
Project Engineering & Coordination
* Develop and review technical documentation, drawings, and work packs for communications systems on relocated skids.
* Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met.
* Act as the primary technical interface between the project team, vendors (e.g., CSE, Radlink), and third-party integrators (e.g., Titan ICT).
Schedule & Risk Management
* Monitor and report on project progress against schedule, highlighting risks and recommending mitigations.
* Ensure all integration and commissioning windows (e.g., 10-day SAT periods) are planned and adhered to.
* Support the identification and management of technical and delivery risks.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
* Ensure all works comply with standards, statutory requirements, and industry best practices.
* Oversee testing, commissioning, and handover processes, including documentation and as-built records.
* Review and approve vendor deliverables, including design submissions and test results.
Site Support & Supervision
* Provide on-site engineering support during critical phases (e.g., installation, commissioning, integration).
* Supervise and support contractors during construction and integration activities.
* Ensure safety and environmental controls are implemented during all site works.
Stakeholder Communication
* Facilitate regular technical meetings and progress updates with project, operations, and vendor teams.
* Prepare and present technical reports, risk assessments
BAU Support & Legacy Documentation
* Provide technical support to the two BAU communications engineers as required.
* Assist with the review, update, and rationalisation of legacy communications documentation and records.
* Support troubleshooting and resolution of legacy system issues as they arise.
What you'll need to succeed
* Minimum 5 years' experience in communications systems engineering, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
* Demonstrated experience in project engineering, vendor management, and site-based project delivery.
* Strong understanding of radio, fibre, and wireless communications systems (e.g., TETRA, LTE, Wi-Fi).
* Experience with commissioning, SAT, and integration of communications infrastructure.
