About the role
Substance use in pregnancy parenting and program provides a provision of services to pregnant women or caring for an infant up to 2 years of age and who are using substances at a level that meets the threshold for a specialist Drug and Alcohol services.The Aboriginal Drug & Alcohol Clinician will be providing counselling/case management to clients in Dubbo or surrounding areas face to face or via Telehealth.
The Drug & Alcohol Clinician is a part of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for providing specialist Drug and Alcohol Services for Substance Use in Pregnancy Parenting program Dubbo & Region.The Drug & Alcohol clinician will provide Drug and Alcohol intake, assessments and treatment for clients seeking assistance with their substance use problems and/or comorbidity issues for the SUPPP program - provide clients who use drugs and alcohol and their families within a Harm Minimisation Framework.
A variety of psychosocial interventions are used, primarily evidence-based approach of Motivation Interviewing and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.Drug & alcohol service actively collaborate with Mental Health Services in treatment planning and provision with shared care clients.Build capacity/networks with Non-Government agencies, Government agencies, Aboriginal Health Officers within Health, Aboriginal Corporations and including all agencies linked to SUPPP.
Additionally, working with Opioid Treatment Program, MERIT program, consultation and referral to other agencies for support or crisis management.
