Job Overview
Grant Thornton is seeking an experienced Self‐Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) Accountant to join our national specialist team. The role can be based in any state in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain strong working relationships both with our clients and with your colleagues across the wider Private Enterprise (PVE) team.
* Provide consultative advice and support to internal and external stakeholders on a range of SMSF matters, including preparation and administration of SMSF Financial Statements, Annual Returns, Member Statements, Trustee Minutes and Section 290-170 Notices.
* Preparation and administration of SMSF BAS, IAS and PAYG requirements.
* Liaise with external auditors and other bodies such as the ATO and ASIC.
* Provide advice to colleagues and escalate any SIS compliance issues to assigned Manager / Director / Partner.
* Assist the licensed advisers with the preparation of Statements of Advice (SOAs).
* Support the provision of training and mentorship opportunities to less experienced team members as required.
Required Qualifications
* Professional accounting experience working with clients in the Australian SMSF sector.
* High-level written and verbal communication, including report‐writing and presentation skills.
* Solid analytical and critical reasoning skills, including interpreting and reporting financial data.
* An interest in working on a national level, liaising with interstate teams and clients as well as locally.
* Intermediate to advanced IT literacy, ideally including experience in the use of Class Super.
Desirable Qualifications
* Qualification(s) and / or professional accreditation(s) in a relevant discipline such as Business / Commerce, Accounting or Finance, or other relevant professional or overseas qualification(s).
