Allwood Stairs is an established staircase manufacturer based in West Gosford, servicing Greater Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle and surrounding areas. We design, manufacture and install high-quality custom timber staircases and are known for our workmanship, reliability and service.
We are growing and are looking for a capable, hands-on Leading Hand / Experienced Joiner to join our factory team.
About the Role
This is a full-time factory-based role for a skilled and reliable person with strong joinery or stair-building experience. The right candidate will be confident working with timber, reading drawings, maintaining quality standards and helping keep factory operations running efficiently.
This role will suit someone who takes pride in their work, has a practical mindset and can lead by example on the factory floor.
Key Responsibilities
* Manufacture and assemble custom timber stair components and related joinery items
* Read and interpret plans, drawings and production information accurately
* Carry out cutting, machining, assembling and finishing work to a high standard
* Work with factory equipment and tools safely and efficiently
* Support daily factory workflow and help ensure jobs are completed on time
* Assist with supervising and guiding other factory staff when required
* Monitor workmanship and maintain quality control standards
* Help identify and solve production issues before they become bigger problems
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment
* Liaise with management and other team members to keep work moving smoothly
Key Requirements
* Proven experience as a joiner, cabinet maker, stair builder or similar trade background
* Strong experience working with timber in a manufacturing or workshop environment
* Ability to read and interpret workshop drawings and plans
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
* Good understanding of factory machinery, tools and safe work practices
* Ability to work independently and also as part of a team
* Reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude
* Good problem-solving ability and practical common sense
* Ability to take ownership of work and lead by example
* Physically fit and capable of working in a hands-on factory environment
Highly Regarded
* Experience in staircase manufacturing
* Experience in a leading hand or supervisory role
* Forklift licence
* Trade qualification in joinery, cabinet making, carpentry or similar
* CNC machine experience
