Offer description

FES Super is the superannuation fund for employees of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) in WA and some associated employers. We help members achieve financial security in retirement by offering a range of account types, retirement products, and investment options such as Moderate, Growth, Australian/International Shares and Cash. Members include current and former DFES staff and affiliated organizations like the United Professional Firefighter’s Union of WA and the WA Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services Association.

We now have a rare opportunity for a Senior Risk and Compliance Specialist to join our Subiaco based team. Working in a hybrid capacity this role reports directly to the board and will play an integral part in shaping fund compliance. This position suits a specialist with extensive experience or someone at management level who is open to a more hands on role with minimal leadership requirements.

- Board Support: Organise Audit & Governance Committee meetings, maintain governance disclosures required by the Corporations Act, and advise on APRA reporting requirements.
- Member & Board Engagement: Conduct annual member surveys, prepare member newsletters, develop training materials, run Board performance assessments, and draft recent member documents and guides.
- Mentorship: Manage and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, finance, governance, risk, or related field.
- Previous experience in a similar governance, compliance, or superannuation role.
- Knowledge of Board vs management duties and responsibilities.
- Understanding of s52 SIS covenants, SIS legislation, trust law, and prudential requirements.

- Working knowledge of accounting, auditing, and operational processes relating to Boards and superannuation funds.
- Knowledge and experience of investment concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing reports and submissions.
