This role is based at our modern Head Office, across from Southern Cross Station, featuring a balcony, BBQ area, collaborative and quiet spaces, and an abundance of natural light.About the roleYou will lead the development and implementation of initiatives to meet the objectives of our Sustainability Strategy, whilst integrating sustainability into all facets of our operations and culture. You will collaborate will Functional Corporate Support Teams, Operational Business Units, project teams and clients to improve our performance across ESG areas. You will also oversee reporting, communication and marketing of sustainability initiatives.Key responsibilities will include:1. Strategic LeadershipManaging and driving the implementation of our Sustainability Strategy and working with the Executive Leadership Team and their subsequent leadership teams to align and embed its strategic goals.Leading the development of a net-zero strategy and establishing achievable science-based sustainability targets in partnership with business units.Championing a balanced focus on ESG and safety outcomes and guiding the leadership teams to integrate these aspects into their decision-making processes to foster a holistic approach to sustainability across the organisation.2. Performance Management and GovernanceFostering a culture of sustainability and social responsibilitythrough employee induction, training, awareness initiatives and active engagement with communities to promote health, safety, and positive impact in the regions where we operate.Driving initiatives by leading Environmental & Social Sustainability Working Groups and collaborating on programs that support DE&I, Indigenous engagement, and community partnerships aligned with organisational and community needs.3. Operational Integration and Client CollaborationPartnering with operations and clients to identify climate risks, innovation opportunities, and ESG best practices.Supporting projects and contracts to achieve ISC ratings and sustainability benchmarks.Collaborating with Fleet to implement decarbonisation strategies, and with Assets & Facilities on renewable energy and energy efficiency programs.4. External Engagement and CommunicationLeading and executing the annual Sustainability Report, overseeing the entire process and working collaboratively with relevant teams to ensure its accuracy.Building strong relationships with stakeholders to share ESG knowledge and exploring external partnerships to secure funding for initiatives.Presenting at internal and external livestreams and SME presentations on core areas of focus within the sustainability space, engaging with diverse audiences and providing expert insights.About youOur ideal candidate has exceptional communication and collaboration skills to engage diverse stakeholders, including executives and board members, clients, internal teams, and community groups. You will have a demonstrated ability to develop and implement holistic sustainability strategies, balancing social, environmental, safety, and economic outcomes.You will also have:A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Sustainability, Environmental Science, or Environmental Management, Business Administration with a focus on Sustainability, or Corporate Social Responsibility (Master’s degree is highly desirable).10 years of experience in ESG/Sustainability Lead positions, with a proven track record in strategy development and implementation across environmental, social, governance, community, and safety domains.Expertise in managing compliance and reporting frameworks, including the National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting Scheme (NGERs), SBTi, and CDP.Experience in developing and delivering annual Sustainability Reports that align with organisational objectives and industry benchmarks.Familiarity with achieving ISC ratings and embedding sustainability benchmarks into operational and project frameworks.Strong understanding of science-based targets (SBTi) and decarbonisation strategies, with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable business plans.About usService Stream is an equal opportunity ASX-listed business that develops and operates Australia's essential services networks across telecommunications, utilities, transport, defence, and social infrastructure industries.We keep communities connected.Benefits of working with us includeFlexible working - all flexibility requests are genuinely considered.
