Portways Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a driven and experienced Operations Manager to lead Marine Crewing and Compliance functions and ensure provision of contract services deliverables. This role suits an organised, proactive professional with strong leadership skills and a background in marine logistics or complex operational environments, will require high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Responsibilities
* Oversee all Contract Management Services, including coordination of Sub‐Contractors, subcontracting arrangements, logistics support, and workforce planning.
* Maintain and monitor robust training and validation plans to ensure all crew meet competency and compliance standards.
* Lead Crew Management Services, delivering high‐quality onboard marine operations through our Sub‐Contractors.
* Coordinate relief, transport, and contingency support for crews assigned to project vessels.
* Act as a key interface between clients and vessel crews, fostering clear communication and operational alignment.
* Manage training and development programs, ensuring rosters accommodate ongoing crew upskilling, and liaise with sub‐contracted training providers and vessel teams to ensure seamless delivery.
* Oversee the safe and efficient operation of vessels, ensuring compliance with all statutory, client, and company requirements (PMS/SMS/AMSA/Port State).
* Administer audit schedules(SMS, Financial, PMS) and manage incident reporting and escalation procedures.
* Facilitate inspections and client access to vessels, coordinating with clients, surveyors, and other third‐party representatives.
* Provide reports as required under the contract in a timely and accurate manner.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in logistics, business management, or an associated maritime qualification(or equivalent experience).
* Demonstrated experience in marine operations, contract, or crew management.
* Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple Sub‐Contractors and complex projects.
* Solid knowledge of maritime compliance frameworks (e.g., AMSA, SMS, Port State).
* Excellent communication, problem‐solving, and organisational abilities with a strong commitment to safety and service excellence.
* Willingness to undertake occasional travel as required.
