Overview
Library Manager – Nhulunbuy is responsible for the operational management of the library, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, inclusive, and culturally responsive library services to the Nhulunbuy community. This role oversees the development and implementation of programs, resources, and initiatives that support literacy, lifelong learning, and community engagement.
What You'll Do
* Lead and manage daily library operations including administration and procurement to ensure high-quality service delivery
* Supervise, support, and mentor library staff, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture
* Promote the library as a community hub, engaging with members and organisations to develop strong stakeholder relationships
* Ensure the East Arnhem communities benefit from the accessibility of mainstream library services through innovative programs and technologies
* Ensure all reporting on library operations, statistics, and program outcomes are accurate, timely, and compliant with both organisational and regulatory requirements
* Oversee the management of spaces within the Nhulunbuy Library
* Ensure the timely delivery and support of mainstream library programs in the East Arnhem communities
* Oversee the development and implementation of initiatives that position the Nhulunbuy Library as a cultural heritage repository for the region
* Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures
* Lead the integration of cultural heritage preservation practices into library services
Essential Qualifications
* Relevant qualification in Library Services or related field, or equivalent experience
* Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees
* Proven ability to assess complex problems and make recommendations for solutions using creative and critical thinking
* Ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands, and adapt to change
* Excellent administrative and organisational, communication, critical thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills
* Proven effective time management with the ability to work autonomously
* Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and an ability to learn new software
* Must hold a current C Class Drivers Licence

* Additional related qualifications
* Experience working in remote First Nations communities
* High level of cross-cultural capability and awareness of issues affecting First Nations people
