About The Team

Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.

The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.

About The Opportunity

As a Train Transit Manager, you will lead and motivate a team of Network Controllers to ensure the effective day to day management of the safe transit of trains across the ARTC network to achieve the objectives of reliability, transit times and on time entry and exit strategies. You will lead the team to provide network services that are reliable and safe and meet the needs of our customers.

As the trains on ARTC's Network don't stop, neither does Network Control. As such, this position operates on a 24-hour, 7 day per week roster.

To be successful in this role, you possess previous leadership experience and will lead from the front with a safety focus in everything you do. In addition, we are looking for candidates who have;

Strong leadership skills with the ability to build a team, work as a team member and lead and motivate staff
Proven experience and ability to develop sound productive and professional business relationships
Strong safety focus and the ability to challenge the status quo
A positive work attitude and ability to work with all internal and external stakeholders effectively
Demonstrated decisiveness, with the ability to resolve issues quickly and safely under pressure, and deliver a satisfying result for the business and our customers
The ability to adapt and remain flexible in a changing environment.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills including strong attention to detail.

What do we want from you?

Demonstrated experience in a management role. Experience in either the transport industry or another related operating environment is preferred.
The ability to build a team, work as a team member, lead and manage staff.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills; experience in meeting protocol.
Knowledge of or an awareness of Work, Health and Safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation.
Computer literacy – word processing, spreadsheets, databases and email.
Positive work attitude and ability to work with all levels of staff effectively.
Ability to resolve issues quickly as they arise and deliver a satisfying result to customers and direct reports.
A flexible and commercial approach to organisational development.
The ability to adapt and remain flexible in a changing environment.
