The College has three mainstream campuses, with two Years 7-10 campuses located at Morwell and Churchill, and a senior campus for Years 11-12 co-located at Federation University in Churchill. The College also administers two satellite campuses to cater for students at risk the Latrobe Valley Flexible Learning Option (LVFLO) Campus and the Kurnai Young Parents Program (KYPP) Campus. Kurnai College has approximately 1400 students attending across its five campuses and employs 204 equivalent full-time (EFT) staff. Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated experience in managing facilities services, maintenance programs and building operations, including oversight of contractors and service providers.
* Proven ability to coordinate building works and maintenance projects and effectively liaise with internal stakeholders and external authorities (e.g. VSBA).
* Strong knowledge of OHS legislation and risk management practices, with experience implementing compliance systems, emergency management planning, and safety procedures.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and support maintenance staff, manage contractors, and foster a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment.
* Highly developed organisational skills including prioritising workloads, supporting budget oversight, and maintaining accurate records and systems.
Role Attendance may be required during school holidays. Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations. Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers. Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives. An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher. Responsibilities
* Plan, coordinate and deliver cost-effective, high-quality facility services including maintenance, cleaning, security, utilities, waste management, parking and signage.
* Monitor facilities requests, prioritising and allocating resources as required.
* Coordinate and oversee minor and major building works in consultation with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA).
* Oversee the engagement, induction and management of contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance with school, Department, OHS, WorkSafe and Child Safety requirements.
* Negotiate and liaise with external providers and stakeholders to ensure timely, reliable and cost-effective service delivery.
* Ensure all facilities meet statutory maintenance and compliance requirements, including essential services (e.g. fire systems, electrical testing, emergency egress).
* Lead and monitor Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies, procedures and risk management practices, including asbestos and emergency management compliance.
* Conduct regular site inspections to identify maintenance needs and ensure a safe and orderly environment.
* Coordinate scheduled maintenance, servicing and inspections of equipment and facilities. Support the maintenance team in day-to-day operations.
* Manage cleaning services and contractors, including oversight of daily and periodic cleaning programs.
* Oversee the management of school vehicles, including maintenance, usage and compliance requirements.
* Maintain accurate records and utilise relevant systems (e.g. AIMS, EduSafe).
* Work collaboratively with the Business Manager to support facilities budgeting and resource planning.
* Lead and support the work of the Maintenance Team Leader and OH&S/Facilities Co-ordinator.
* Respond to emergencies and after-hours call-outs as required.
* Operate with a high level of autonomy, initiative and sound judgement.
