Business Manager – Manufacturing & Construction

Edge Concepts (Qld) Pty Ltd designs, manufactures, and installs glass and metalworks for South East Queensland's top builders and developers.
We are seeking a Business Manager to take ownership of the company's day-to-day commercial, financial, and people operations while working closely with the Managing Director on long-term growth.
This is a hands‐on leadership role. You will be the operational backbone of the company, ensuring our finances, people, systems, and compliance are managed professionally and efficiently.
We are a growing and dynamic company, looking for the final piece of our Senior Leadership Team.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for:
* Managing monthly management accounts, invoicing, cash flow, and payroll
* Overseeing BAS, IAS, payroll tax, and annual statutory submissions (with external accountants)
* Preparing cash flow forecasts and financial reports
* Identifying cost‐saving opportunities and maintaining insurance policies
Human Resources
* Managing recruitment, onboarding, contracts, and performance reviews
* Coordinating training, licences, and compliance requirements
* Managing WorkCover claims and return‐to‐work processes
* Supporting employee development and quarterly all‐staff meetings
Office Systems & IT
* Overseeing office operations, suppliers, and service providers
* Managing accounting, payroll, HR, and document management systems
* Maintaining accurate records and filing systems
Safety & Compliance
* Maintaining WH&S systems, SWMS, SWI, and MSDS documentation
* Ensuring compliance with Fair Work, Modern Awards, and WH&S legislation
* Managing ISO 9001 documentation and audits
* Maintaining company policies and procedures
Business Support
* Supporting the Managing Director on special projects and strategic initiatives
* Helping drive year‐on‐year improvement in revenue and profitability
About You
You will be a confident, organised, and practical business professional who enjoys ownership and accountability.
Essential Experience & Skills
* Minimum 2 years' experience in business administration, accounting, HR, IT systems, and WH&S
* Strong understanding of payroll, compliance, and business reporting
* Excellent communication and time management skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
* Strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset
* Experience in manufacturing or construction environments
* Formal qualifications in Business, IT, or WH&S
* ISO or compliance auditing experience
