Support Mates is a fast-growing, purpose-led NDIS provider on the Gold Coast. We exist to help young people with disabilities build friendships, life skills, and confidence through community-based group and 1:1 support.
We're not a traditional provider — we run cooking programs in commercial kitchens, get active with dance and gym sessions, and prioritise real-world progress over box-ticking. We're now looking for an experienced, emotionally intelligent support worker to join our team.
If you're someone who leads with empathy, holds strong boundaries, and lights up when building connection with young people — this could be your perfect fit.
About the Role
We're looking for a Support Worker (Gold Coast | 1:1 Behaviour Support | NDIS) to join our growing team. This is a casual position focused on supporting young adults with disabilities to build life skills, confidence, and connection through community-based support.
You'll work primarily 1:1 with a participant and in group settings, helping them navigate everyday routines, engage in activities they enjoy, and build independence over time. The role may involve early starts, long shifts, and supporting participants with complex needs — so being reliable, calm under pressure, and emotionally intelligent is essential.
You'll receive thorough onboarding and ongoing training, and you'll be supported by a vibrant team culture that values initiative, collaboration, and personal growth. You'll report directly to Sebastian, the CEO, and be part of a business that puts people and relationships at the heart of everything we do.
You're excited about this opportunity because....
 * You'll build a meaningful 1:1 relationship with a young person who needs structure, safety, and connection
 * You'll receive training and mentoring from a supportive team
 * You'll be part of a vibrant, creative organisation doing things differently in the NDIS space
 * You'll have the chance to grow into leadership or specialist tracks over time
 * You'll work with a team that values initiative, celebrates creativity, and backs your ideas
 * You'll be part of a mission that's fun, ambitious, and deeply human
We\'re excited about you because .....
 * You have 6–12+ months of experience in disability, youth work, or behaviour support
 * You lead with empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence — especially in moments of stress
 * You're a calm presence, not easily flustered, and know how to hold strong boundaries
 * You communicate openly and professionally with families, team leads, and your peers
 * You're proactive and love coming up with ideas that help your mate thrive
 * You're a team player who uses tools like Slack and ShiftCare to stay connected
