**Position Overview**:
We are seeking an experienced Data and Telecommunications Cabler to join our operations team. This role involves installing, diagnosing, and maintaining telecommunications infrastructure such as network cabling, data transmission equipment, and aerial and underground systems. You'll work on both new builds and service upgrades for the NBN and private networks.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Interpret site plans, construction drawings, and technical documents to determine optimal routing, positioning, and installation methods for telecom infrastructure.
- Install, terminate, and secure fibre and copper cables for data and voice transmission, ensuring full compliance with NBN and AS/CA S009 standards.
- Identify and rectify faults using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, line testers, and signal trace equipment.
- Integrate and maintain telecommunications appliances, including routers, switches, splitters, telephony devices, and customer premise equipment (CPE).
- Install and maintain overhead lines, underground conduits, and above-ground infrastructure, ensuring structural and signal integrity.
- Fit and seal cable sheaths using thermoplastic and other compliant materials to ensure environmental protection and signal continuity.
- Mount and align radio antennas and satellite equipment for optimal transmission and reception.
- Conduct structured cabling tests and complete certifications for installed systems.
- Record accurate job logs, asset usage, cable paths, and testing results.
- Follow all WHS and network safety protocols, including site risk assessments and equipment calibration checks.
- Liaise with site supervisors, clients, and internal teams to ensure successful project completion.
- Safely manage tools, materials, and test equipment; ensure all items are functional, calibrated, and returned to inventory after use.
- Maintain van stock and complete job site audits to verify that tools and materials match installation requirements.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**:
- At least 1 year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in a similar role installing and maintaining fibre/copper telecommunications networks.
- Proficient in the use of test and measurement tools for fibre and copper networks.
- Familiarity with standards, including AS/CA S009 and other NBN requirements.
- NBN accreditation or prior work experience on NBN projects will be highly regarded.
- White Card (Construction Induction Certificate).
- Strong understanding of safety practices and risk assessments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, technical aptitude, and attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Experience with OTDR testing equipment, Fluke testers, and Telstra/NBN-specific platforms is desirable.

Pay: $74,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
