About the Department
Note Issue Department is responsible for issuing secure and reliable banknotes that Australians trust. It also ensures that cash remains accessible and usable across the community in the public interest.
About the Section
The Banknote Strategy and Engagement section helps keep Australia's banknotes resilient, accessible, and trusted by the public. We focus on strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and oversight of design and production to help keep banknotes fit-for-purpose in an evolving environment. Our work includes producing high-quality analysis and collaborating with industry partners, law enforcement, central banks, and accessibility advocates to inform banknote design and raise public awareness. A current flagship initiative is the $5 redesign project, celebrating First Nations cultures and history.
Your Responsibilities
Contributing to strategic research and analysis to inform the development of the Bank's banknote strategy.
Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including scientific, operational and policy teams, to support effective implementation of the Bank's banknote strategy.
Applying strong analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills to shape policy and operational decisions.
Overseeing project management of high-profile initiatives such as the $5 redesign project, with responsibility for steering committee coordination and reporting to Enterprise Project Management Office and the Investment Committee.
Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners and accessibility advocates.
Providing influential advice to senior leadership on complex issues.
Leading and developing a high-performing team.
Your Background
Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with sound judgement.
Strong leadership capability and experience managing teams.
Ability to communicate complex analysis, verbally and in writing, clearly to diverse audiences.
Strategic mindset with the ability to navigate uncertainty and solve problems.
Excellent written communication skills for high-quality reports and documents.
A background in policy or related areas is desirable but not essential.
