We are seeking an experienced
Mechanical Maintenance Technician
with a strong background in hydraulics to join our dynamic Port Mechanical team. Reporting to the
Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor
, you will play a key role in maintaining and optimising the performance of fixed plant assets across our port operations.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is passionate about driving plant reliability and safety excellence.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all fixed plant equipment
* Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems and components
* Respond to and resolve mechanical breakdowns efficiently and safely
* Conduct inspections across online plant areas including conveyors, train unloaders, sample stations, and balance machines
* Raise notifications and initiate work requests for identified defects
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and equipment reliability programs
Qualifications And Experience
* Relevant Mechanical or Engineering Trade Qualification
* Demonstrated experience in fixed plant maintenance, ideally within a mining or heavy industrial environment
* Strong hydraulics knowledge and troubleshooting ability
* Solid understanding of conveyor systems and large-scale bulk material handling equipment
* Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Project or similar maintenance systems
* Skilled in developing risk assessments, JHAs, SWMS, and other safety documentation
* Strong communication and organisational skills with a keen attention to detail
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
* A proactive approach to safety and a commitment to Fortescue's Zero Harm culture
