Job Opportunity: Legal Expertise
The Corporate and Governance Division seeks an experienced Legal Advisor for a temporary contract. The successful candidate will provide timely and pragmatic legal advice to protect the interests of the City, acting as a subject matter expert in one or more areas of law.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide legal guidance on complex local government law issues
2. Interpret and apply the Local Government Act 1995 and subsidiary legislation
3. Ccoordinate drafting and review of the City's Local Laws and manage associated Parliamentary processes
4. Represent the City in legal disputes as required
5. Manage relationships with external legal providers
6. Offer advice and assistance with legislative and contractual compliance
7. Draft and review Council Policies and Procedures
8. Draft and review contracts and tender documentation
9. Draft and review leases, licences and other agreements
10. Conduct internal reviews of decisions made under freedom of information legislation
