About Palliative Care Australia

Palliative Care Australia (PCA) is the national peak body for palliative and end of life care. PCA represents all those who work towards high quality palliative care for all Australians. Working closely with consumers, our Member Organisations, national health stakeholders, and the palliative care workforce, we aim to improve access to, and promote the need for, palliative and end of life care. We believe quality care occurs when strong networks exist between specialist palliative care providers, other specialist health sectors, care providers and the community.

About the Opportunity

This role is responsible for the day to day management for successful delivery of the joint International 2027 Asian Hospice Palliative Network/ Oceanic Palliative Care Conference and associated evaluation.

This contract is to 30 June 2027 and will incorporate the evaluation of the Conference.

The Conference and Sponsorship Manager will be responsible for building and expanding sponsorship and exhibition revenue streams as well as developing and maintaining relationships with those sponsors.

This is a high-risk project for PCA, and as such a highly experienced Conference and Sponsorship Manager is essential.

As a leader in the wider PCA team, the Conference and Sponsorship Manager will be a collaborative and collegiate member of the senior leadership team, with a focus on the care, support, and growth of event team members.

Central to every aspect of this role is the best interests of people living with life-limiting illness, their family and support network, our PCA members, and the people who deliver palliative care services.

About the Opportunity

Working closely and as the single point of contact for the PCO, All Occasions Group, monitor and coordinate the events team to end June 2027. The successful delivery of the 2027 APHN/OPCC requires the supervision of Events staff, development and management of workplans, sponsorship agreements, project timelines, briefing notes and correspondence. This role is required to work in partnership with Communications colleagues and suppliers responsible for dedicated conference communication materials.

Selection Criteria

Essential

* Demonstrated experience and relevant qualifications in managing national and/or international conferences including program, speaker, and budget management

* Experience with sponsorship and exhibition management, including developing new opportunities and relationship management

* Experience supervising and mentoring staff to work collaboratively, effectively, and efficiently.

* Strong work skills including multi-tasking, prioritisation of workload, organisation skills, and ability to meet deadlines with high quality output while ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.

* Excellent personal skills including written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships and work with a broad range of people including Members, Executive/Board members, international partners, clients, and other stakeholders.

* Proficiency in a range of digital programs including Microsoft suite (inc. Excel and SharePoint)

Desirable

* Demonstrated experience within the not-for-profit sector

* Experience using software such as Mailchimp and EventsAir

* Experience in preparing communications products for media and social media platforms
