The Opportunity
Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Metering Officer to join their Water, Wastewater and Waste team in Lithgow, NSW.
The Metering Officer provides administrative and management services of the water metering and charging systems for the Water and Wastewater department to support the efficient and effective operation of the Directorate and the optimal utilisation of the metering system. The position will manage the metering network and the smart metering system for use across Council including meter fleet maintenance and administration of the system for Council and customers.
Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for effective management, administration and continuous improvement of Council's water metering systems to ensure high quality customer service and reliable data to support operational and financial decision-making across Council.
More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
* Responsible for water metering function of Council including the administration of smart metering portal, maintenance and operation of water meters, dealing with customer enquires as they relate to the function
* Develop and maintain liaison relationships with key internal and external stakeholders by providing positive and efficient customer service
* Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of meter and account data to ensure smooth execution of the meter-to-cash process
* Conducting detailed desktop investigations into account or billing issues, processing adjustments, and collaborating with field staff to validate meter readings and address exceptions
* Management of escalated revenue assurance matters, digital meter data anomalies, and leak investigations, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely resolution and clear communication
* Support both day-to-day operations and longer-term improvements in processes and systems
* Provide support to the finance department as it relates to water and wastewater
* Other duties as directed

About you
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
* Relevant industry experience in the metering, water and wastewater areas
* Class "C" NSW Driver's Licence
* Comprehensive verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrated organisational and time management skills
* Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle difficult people
* Demonstrated understanding of Work Health & Safety
* Commitment to the principals of honesty and integrity
In addition, an ideal candidate would have experience in the Plumbing industry.
Salary and Benefits
* Between $1,237.47 to $1,359.72 per week dependent on skills, qualifications and previous experience
* Permanent, full time position, 38 hours per week
* Work life balance with a Rostered Day off every 2 weeks
