About Us:
Located at Castlemaine, Loddon Prison is a 477 bed Medium Security Prison for sentenced male prisoners. Adjacent to Loddon Prison is Middleton, a 236 bed Restricted Minimum Security Prison for sentenced male prisoners. The focus of both prisons is rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and also the provision of programs and targeted interventions to address offending behaviour and promote the development of prosocial behaviour. Both prisons provide contemporary and quality correctional services that prepare prisoners for transition and reintegration.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Industry Supervisor, Industry Officers prepare prisoners for release and enhance post release employment opportunities through prisoner employment, integrated on the job training, targeted educational opportunities, personal development programs and activities. Industry Officers assist with the management of prisoner employment, establish and maintain safe operating procedures and other OHS legislative requirements and ensure compliance with prison industry procedures and the Industry Management Manual (IMM).
Some of your other duties will include:
* Conducting searches and escorts, surveillance, observing and assessing prisoner behaviour.
* Operating a variety of security and industrial equipment.
* Collating information and preparing reports as required to inform management of emerging trends, incidents and for maintaining compliance requirements.
About You:
As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
* Highly developed communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
* Computer skills (familiar with Department suite of software, Oracle, PIMS, JETS, Centurion Microsoft Office Suite).
* Relevant industry experience, together with appropriate qualifications or trade experience would be desirable, but not essential.
Qualifications:
* An appropriate trade qualification and/or experience relevant to industries operational in Hopkins Correctional Centre.
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).
* Knowledge and expertise in metal fabrication would be an advantage.
