Are you an experienced finance manager looking for a meaningful position that offers flexibility and work-life balance?
We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent part-time position within our not-for-profit and charitable organisation, offering
15 hours per week over three days, with some flexibility.
This important role acts as a conduit between finance and our multi-faceted operations.
Position Summary
You will be responsible for managing the financial health of the organisation, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance. Working closely with the General Manager, you will develop and implement effective financial policies and practices that align with the organisation's goals. This position requires a collaborative approach, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of non-profit financial management.
Major Position Functions
Financial Management & Reporting
- preparing monthly/annual reports, key liaison with the Treasurer
Budgeting & Forecasting
- lead budgeting process & reviews with managers, support GM in long-term planning
Strategic Planning & Analysis
- support strategic planning through financial analysis
Donations Management
- working with our Relationships Manager, reviewing pledges, donor tracking and reporting
Process Improvements
- lead development of the delegations policy. Foster a culture of continuous systems, policies, and procedure improvements with our Ops Manager
Risk Management
- identify, assess and manage financial risks. Manage insurance, banking and audit relationships, ensuring compliance
Team Management
- guide and direct our bookkeeper. Oversee payroll coordinator
Day-to-Day Finance Function
- review and process batches, payroll, debtors, reconciliation of bank accounts etc
Selection Criteria
7+ years demonstrated experience in a fast-paced accounting role
Proficient in accounting software, Xero, and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong understanding of accounting principles
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
Experience in the not-for-profit sector would be highly regarded but is not essential
Knowledge of DGR status requirements (donor gift recipient / tax deductibility for donations) would be highly regarded but is not essential
Demonstrated ability to work flexibly, co-operatively, independently and as part of a team in a energetic workplace environment
