This is a genuine role with real responsibility. If you want to contribute, think for yourself and be accountable, you'll be in the right place.
About The Role
* This role sits right at the frontline of delivery.
* You'll be working closely with experienced project teams, not observing from the edge but actively involved in delivering the work, breaking down drawings, supporting supervisors and helping keep production moving day to day.
* Expect to be across the detail early, tracking progress, managing quality documentation, coordinating with subcontractors, making sure what's planned is happening on the ground.
* You'll be out on site making sure works are delivered in line specifications, contributing to planning, monitoring costs and supporting the team to hit programme and budget targets.
* You'll get exposure to the full picture. cost, planning, quality, safety and environmental requirements, and be expected to use your judgement, not just follow instructions.
* There's real accountability, as you'll identify issues, raise risks and be part of solving problems, not passing them on.
* You'll also play a part in how the job improves, contributing ideas, refining how work is done and helping drive that right first time approach across the site.
What Helps (but don't stress if you don't tick every box)
* A Civil Engineering degree or similar, or you could be working towards one
* Some exposure to project sites, even if it's through a grad role, internship or practical experience
* Ability to read drawings and understand how things actually go together on site
* Basic understanding of safety, quality and environmental expectations, or at least the right attitude to learn them quickly
* Comfortable using the usual tools, Excel etc. tracking things properly without it becomes a problem
* Willingness to be site-based and move where the work is (QLD / NSW projects)
Nice To Have (but Not Essential)
* Experience on roads, earthworks, structures or public infrastructure projects
* Exposure to planning tools like MS Project or P6
* Any involvement in cost tracking, variations or project reporting
* An interest in progressing into a Project Engineer role over time
* A bit of commercial awareness, understanding that time, cost and delivery all matter
FAIR = Fairness, Access, Inclusion, Representation. It's simple. Whatever your background, gender, culture, experience, or how you got here, you'll be treated the same as everyone else, fairly. If you can do the job, you'll be considered.
