Tagai State College in the beautiful Torres Strait, are seeking a dynamic teaching Head of Campus for Warraber Campus.
This position is being offered as a temporary contract position, starting as soon as possible in Term 4 2025, until the end of 2026.

Living on Warraber Island
Warraber Island (Sue Island) is in the Vigilant Channel. Situated on a coral cay, the Island has an abundance of traditional foods such as wongai and coconuts. Fish, turtles and dugong inhabit the warm waters and coral reefs surrounding the island.
The people of Warraber Island are part of the Kulkalaig, of the Central Islands of Torres Strait, including Nagi. Specifically, the Nagilgal and of Waraberalgal are the same people. Life on the island remains very traditional and includes hunting, dancing, and thayilai (feasts); vital components of contemporary life.
Warraber Campus
First opened in January 1985, it became part of Tagai State College in 2007 and is one of the 16 Primary campuses that make up Tagai State College. These campuses are spread across 48,000 square kilometres of ocean in the Torres Strait.
Tagai State College also has a Secondary campus and has a strong partnership with FNQTAFE campus located on Thursday Island.
The current enrolment is approximately 56 students ranging in year levels from Kindergarten to Year 6. For most students, English is an additional language.
This role is a teaching Head of Campus position. Language and cultural activities play an integral part in the school curriculum.
The College is seeking a highly effective instructional leader who is capable of enacting and monitoring the Explicit Improvement agenda. This is an opportunity for an aspiring leader to continue their leadership journey as the Head of Campus of this school and build a rewarding career educating students in this unique environment.

The Head of Campus at Warraber is a teaching Head of Campus role. The suitable applicant must be able to demonstrate capability to meet the accountabilities of a quality teacher and has demonstrated leadership capability to lead a Campus.
