POSITION SUMMARY
The Classroom Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality education in their subject discipline/s to students at
The Essington School. This role focuses on fostering student's subject proficiency while enhancing holistic education
and pastoral care. The ideal candidate will create an engaging classroom environment that promotes excellence in
student learning outcomes, develop lesson plans, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to
enhance curriculum programs.
The Classroom Teacher will report to the Head of School.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
1. University degree in the relevant faculty discipline or equivalent with associated qualifications in Education
2. High levels of classroom competence
3. High-level literacy skills
4. Knowledge of the Australian Curriculum
5. Knowledge of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
6. Ability to teach the assigned faculty subjects to Year 12 level or equivalent
7. Enthusiastic approach to innovative teaching and learning
8. Willingness to participate in the creation and implementation of programs
9. High standard of organisational and time management skills
10. Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and proven ability to relate to staff, students and parents
11. Maintain a current registration as a teacher in the Northern Territory, or the ability to attain registration
12. Obtain a valid Working with Children Clearance (the "Ochre Card") and a satisfactory Police Security Check
and to maintain these clearances for the duration of employment
Desirable:
1. Ability to integrate and utilise ICT effectively within the classroom
2. Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum

KEY DUTIES
Curriculum Design and Program Development:
* Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with the Australian Curriculum and cater to
diverse learning styles
* Maintain a teaching focus on excellence in student learning outcomes
* Contribute to collaborative planning and decision making within the faculty
* Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning
Classroom Management:
* Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, cooperation, and
enthusiasm for learning
* Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a productive learning atmosphere
* Facilitate student learning by establishing clear and consistent expectations and routines
Assessment and Evaluation:
* Assess student performance and progress through formal and informal evaluations, including varied
assessment types such as assessments, tests, projects, presentations, and peer reviews
* Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance and
areas for improvement
* Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and assessments
Pastoral Care:
* Establish and maintain supportive and positive relationships with students and provide quality pastoral care
reflective of the school's values
* Participate in the development, implementation, and regular review of the school's pastoral care program
Professional Development:
* Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on subject
discipline education trends
* Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, ideas, and best practices
APPOINTMENT CONDITIONS
This role is a full-time position and will require attendance on school business at a variety of locations at any time
of the day or week, teaching FTE apply. You must work within school hours (business hours)
and acknowledge that working outside of these hours is part of your role and has been taken into consideration
