As part of our expert team, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and refining a policy and regulatory framework that ensures the effective use, development, and protection of land within the municipality.
* Develop and oversee major land use and development strategies, managing complex planning issues within defined scope, output, timeline, and budget.
* Assess and administer planning scheme amendments and development plans; represent the Council at Planning Panels, Advisory Committees, VCAT, and other forums.
* Contribute to the monitoring, maintenance, and reform of the municipal planning scheme.
* Liaise with government agencies, community organisations, and other stakeholders with respect to land use planning, development issues, and strategic projects.
* Plan and lead community engagement activities to gather input and inform planning processes.
* Prepare briefs, engage, and manage external consultants for strategic planning and legal matters, while supervising and coordinating other departmental staff.
You will bring
* Extensive experience as a Strategic Town Planner.
* Proven experience in project management, strategy development, and policy formulation and reform.
* Demonstrated ability to mentor team members.
* Relevant qualifications in Town Planning, Urban Studies or Urban Geography or related field.
* Local government experience will be an advantage.
* A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
