ABOUT THE ROLE:
Outback Spirit Tours is on the lookout for a skilled Mechanic to join our dedicated team at the stunning Seven Spirit Bay Lodge in Arnhem Land. This full-time, fixed-term contract position will run until the end of November, with the potential for a permanent role for the right candidate.
In this unique live-in position, you will receive accommodation and meals free of charge, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in one of Australia’s most breathtaking landscapes.
You will be entrusted with the essential servicing and maintenance of our premium Outback Spirit service fleet, which includes vehicles, vessels, and various machinery. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring a pleasant and safe experience for all our guests, visitors, and team members.
Key Responsibilities for the Lodge Mechanic Include:
* Collaborating with management to prioritise and coordinate repairs and maintenance, ensuring all fleet vehicles and vessels are operational for scheduled tours.
* Conducting preventive maintenance servicing and breakdown repairs for all fleet items and property maintenance equipment, minimising any disruptions to our guests.
* Performing regular maintenance on prime power generators to guarantee a reliable power supply for the lodge.
* Employing cost-effective and efficient maintenance methods while upholding high-quality standards.
* Maintaining a strong commitment to safety by adhering to all workplace health and safety policies and procedures, fostering a secure environment for yourself and your colleagues.
ABOUT YOU:
You will need to demonstrate proven mechanic experience, alongside strong attention to detail and effective troubleshooting abilities. Exceptional communication skills and strong customer service capabilities are also essential.
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Mechanical experience with heavy vehicles (required).
* Mechanical experience with vessels (preferred).
* Mechanical experience with generators (preferred).
* Proficiency in repairing and troubleshooting both mechanical and auto electrical equipment.
* Proven expertise with marine vessels and land-based tour vehicles.
* A mechanical trade qualification covering both petrol and diesel engines.
* A valid Driver’s Licence (Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) preferred).
* A Forklift Licence.
* Previous experience in remote work environments.
* Strong communication and literacy skills, coupled with a diligent work ethic and meticulous attention to detail.
* A high level of computer proficiency, including analytical reporting skills.
