About the role - Release and Environment Coordinator (Permanent | Sydney only | Full Work rights Required)

Job Overview

The Release and Environment Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, governance, and delivery of application releases and environment changes across multiple technology teams. Working closely with the Release Manager, development, testing, and operations teams, this role ensures that release activities and environment provisioning are executed in a controlled, compliant, and timely manner. The position plays a key role in maintaining release governance, enabling CI/CD practices, and ensuring environment readiness across the software delivery lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide administrative and operational support to the Release Manager in developing, publishing, communicating, and enforcing release and environment management policies, processes, procedures, and standards.
* Coordinate end-to-end Change, Release, and Environment Management activities across applications and infrastructure components.
* Apply governance and control requirements to ensure effective implementation of Change & Release processes.
* Participate in Change and Release working-level forums and governance meetings.
* Facilitate and represent Change reviews and approvals through the Change Advisory Board (CAB).
* Track and validate progress across all release phases, ensuring readiness criteria are met and escalating risks, issues, and dependencies as required.
* Identify, analyze, and escalate risks and issues that may impact release schedules, environment stability, or delivery outcomes.
* Provide coordinated release and environment communications before, during, and after deployments.
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience establishing effective controls, reporting mechanisms, and communication protocols to manage and track release and environment activities.
* Experience supporting production applications within an Application Support environment.
* Strong focus on ensuring code releases meet defined entry and exit criteria for each environment and align with testing strategies and interdependent programs.
* Coordinate application and environment changes, including infrastructure and configuration updates where required.
* Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
* Coordinate source code migration across multiple environments in a standardized, controlled, and auditable manner.
* Solid understanding of source code configuration management, including branching and merging strategies aligned with program testing approaches and stream test plans.
* Experience enforcing code change, deployment, and environment controls in alignment with Release and CAB governance processes.
* Maintain clear and proactive communication with program stakeholders, including forward schedules of releases and environment changes, meeting participation, reporting, and advisory support.
* Plan, manage, and facilitate Release and Environment meetings, ensuring effective documentation and stakeholder understanding of processes.
* Work closely with development leads, test leads, stream leads, and infrastructure teams to ensure release and environment coordination is effective and timely.
* Strong understanding of environment management and provisioning principles and practices.
* Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycles (SDLC), including Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
* Understanding of relational databases and client-server architectures.
* Some experience supporting Windows-based systems.
* Working knowledge of web technologies, networking concepts, XML, Oracle, SQL, Microsoft products, and cloud-based environments.
* Strong stakeholder and user liaison skills with the ability to interpret, document, and understand business requirements and technical specifications.
