About The Role
Ensure the Finance Section delivers effective co‑design of services with the community, supports a whole‑of‑Council approach to integrated service delivery, and adopts an innovative perspective on Council’s long‑term opportunities. Oversee the monitoring, administration, delivery, and maintenance of financial management systems to ensure system integrity and compliance with local government legislation and Australian Accounting Standards. Lead and collaborate on the scoping, development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of financial systems, including issue identification and resolution.
Contribute to an engaged, high‑performing team that delivers service excellence by providing leadership, advice, and strong partnerships with system users. Build staff capability to meet current and future business requirements through ongoing education, guidance, and support. Lead the development of financial systems reporting services to strengthen financial performance analysis, decision‑making, and business process efficiency, while maintaining a strong commitment to continuous improvement and the ongoing evaluation of system workflows and solutions.
About You
* Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or equivalent and CPA/CA qualifications.
* Well-developed knowledge of the principles in the delivery of systems accounting functions within a large complex organisation.
* Significant experience in leading the development, utilisation and maintenance of large computerised financial systems.
* Experience in identifying opportunities for information sharing and delivery of information tools (such as dashboards).
* Well-developed knowledge and understanding of financial accounting concepts, Australian accounting standards and management accounting practices.
* Knowledge of governance and reporting principles in a Local Government setting.
* Experience in organisation planning and strategy development.
* High level experience in problem-solving, generating options and identifying long-term consequences and providing solutions.
* Strong experience in the establishment, development and maintaining of business partnering relationships, with the ability to identify and respond to customer needs and tailor services accordingly.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, taking direction from multiple stakeholders to ensure the delivery of agreed outcomes.
* Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
* TechnologyOne experience (Desirable).
