The duties of a police officer Duties As a general duties police officer, no two days are ever the same. General duties officers undertake a variety of duties on shift including:

Instead, we consider overall suitability. Here's what we look for:
people who are 18 years or older strong communication skills (verbal and written) healthy level of fitness good character and reputation demonstrated work experience (including volunteer work) Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents (New Zealand citizens must have a Special Category visa or the ability to obtain one) an Australian or New Zealand driver licence (transfer to a Victorian licence required before employment, probationary licence acceptable) Salary And Benefits We offer job security and a range of perks including flexible rostering, on-the-job training, and professional development:
Competitive salary: Starting at $76,927 plus allowances once sworn in as a constable. Additional shift penalties and overtime payments apply. Wages increase with rank. Allowances and leave: Up to nine weeks recreation leave, 16 weeks parental leave, plus study leave, long-service leave, and superannuation. Paid training: $55,995 per annum during 12 weeks at the Victoria Police Academy, paid fortnightly ($2,153.65 gross). Career progression: Opportunities to specialise and progress through ranks with training and support. Salary and benefits are per the current Victoria Police Enterprise Agreement.
