About the role The Field Technician is based at the Meringa site and provide help and support with the farming activities we do to support our research. The support is mainly field based but can also include glasshouse and laboratory work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Accurately measuring and recording data in accordance with trial protocol.
* Maintain accurate records of all trial activities.
* Collecting samples including plant, seeds, soil, stalk, and leaf.
* Maintain research equipment.
* Maintain strict confidentiality of project intellectual property and all commercially sensitive information (essential).
* Any other specific duties and instructions that will be provided by your supervisor.
About you
You will bring with you the following qualifications, capabilities and experience:
* Diploma or bachelor's in agriculture or environmental science, or similar experience.
* Commitment to working safely and being responsible for your own safety and that of your workmates.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team – punctual and reliable.
* Ability to follow instructions.
* Attention to detail and accuracy for data collection.
* Ability to use spreadsheet editors like Excel for data entry.
* Ability to learn the use of new software packages.
* Ability to do physical work in very hot, humid conditions: working, standing, and walking in the field or greenhouses for long periods on uneven ground in cane fields.
