The Family Relationship Centre supports individuals and families through every stage of life from building new relationships to strengthening connections, resolving conflict, and navigating separation. As a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, you will play a vital role in helping families find positive pathways forward. You’ll provide family dispute resolution and property mediation services, guide clients through intake, information, and referral processes, and contribute to community education and group programs. This role also involves promoting the Centre’s services and building strong community and professional networks to enhance client outcomes.
A Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner must ensure they provide services in accordance with the Family Law Act, Family Relationship Centre Operational Framework and the organisational Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification - Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution or an appropriate qualification in a relevant discipline such as Social Work, Psychology, Law, Social or Behavioural Sciences
- Mediation or Conflict Resolution qualifications and/or National Mediation Accreditation and/or Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner Accreditation; and the ability to obtain registration under the accreditation standards set out in the FDRP regulations
- Experience in family dispute resolution and child-focused practices and the ability to articulate the family dispute resolution process
- Current C or CA class driver’s license (QLD)
Core Competencies:
- The ability to deliver Family Dispute Resolution services in accordance with the Family Law Act (Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners guidelines) and the organisational Quality Management System policies and procedure
- Apply knowledge of relevant theoretical models and frameworks (FDR, conflict resolution, child development and child inclusive mediation) to ensure FDR practice appropriate to client needs
- Ability to articulate the family dispute resolution process
- Professionally represent and promote CatholicCare in the wider community by engaging in and developing strong networks and partnerships
In addition to the above, you will need:
- The ability to collaborate within a team in an open plan office environment
- Willingness to travel within the area of service delivery and occasionally outside the area of service delivery
- Undertake other duties as and when directed within the scope of the role
The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.
