We are partnering with a growing wholesale and distribution business with a strong retail footprint across Australia and New Zealand that is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its senior leadership team.

The role
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the finance function and play a key role in driving financial performance, compliance, and commercial decision making.
This is a hands‐on leadership position suited to an experienced Financial Controller or a high‐performing Finance Manager ready to step up.
You will partner closely with the executive team, operational leaders, and external stakeholders to ensure strong financial governance while supporting sustainable growth across a complex retail and wholesale operation.
Key responsibilities include
* Leading the full finance function including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, and balance sheet reconciliations
* Preparing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
* Managing budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow
* Providing commercial insights and performance analysis to support strategic decisions
* Reviewing and strengthening internal controls and financial processes
* Ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and statutory requirements
* Coordinating audits and managing relationships with banks and external advisors
* Leading, mentoring, and developing a capable finance team
About you
You are a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys being close to the business and influencing outcomes. You balance strong technical capability with the ability to communicate clearly and build trust across leadership teams.
You will bring
* A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
* CPA or CA qualification
* At least 5 years' experience in senior accounting or financial management roles
* Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
* Advanced Excel skills and experience with systems such as MYOB, Xero, or similar
* High attention to detail, integrity, and sound judgement
* Experience within a retail, wholesale, or multi‐site environment will be highly regarded, as will prior leadership experience and exposure to Pronto Xi.
