Designers/Draftspersons – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Position: Designers/Draftspersons for the Hunter Class Frigate Program.
Location: Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Cairns, Perth. No previous shipbuilding experience required.
Contract: 12‐month fixed term.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform spatial integration and production outputs delivery using AutoCAD, FORAN, Windchill, and other digital engineering tools.
* Manage production outputs for the Hunter Class Frigates.
* Consult with functional and project management, reporting progress and meeting customer needs.
* Prepare and maintain accurate technical documents, records, and reports.
* Participate in problem‐solving teams and improve technical systems and processes.
* Lead or supervise a small team of designers (senior roles).
* Plan, estimate, and schedule engineering work packages.
Intermediate Level (2–10 years)
Responsibilities include all duties above, plus: meet internal and external customer expectations, ensure work complies with engineering, drafting, and quality management standards.
Senior Roles (10+ years)
Responsibilities include all duties above, plus: train team in Hunter Class Frigate Program core tools (FORAN, Windchill, AVEVA ERM), support the Detail Design Discipline Lead, and act as delegated Engineering Authority.
About You
* Diploma of Engineering (Technical) or equivalent industry experience.
* Experience with 2D & 3D CAD (AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, PTC Creo, Siemens NX, REVIT).
* Experience in maritime, heavy engineering, oil & gas, infrastructure, or building services industries.
* Experience producing shop detail or manufacturing drawings.
* Experience with design office quality review processes.
* Strong attention to detail and problem‐solving skills.
* Well‐developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
