We are looking for an Avionics Hardware Engineer who thrives on the rigorous design challenges of space systems? Join our team at Lot Fourteen, Adelaide - Australia's space innovation hub where you will design spacecraft avionics hardware for Inovor's Australian and international spacecraft customers.

* Design Avionics Systems for Inovor's CubeSat and Smallsat Apogee, Apogee XL and Australis Space solutions.
* Work across our vertically integrated Avionics stack by designing and manufacturing complete spacecraft systems – Flight Computers, Guidance Navigation and Control Systems, Power Systems and Payload Processing Computers.
* Experience the full product lifecycle from concept to on-orbit operations.

How You Will Contribute to Australia's Space Future

* Design Mission-Critical Avionics Systems - Architect, validate, and deliver flight computers, ADCS, EPS, and payload interfaces for Inovor's Apogee, Apogee XL, and Australis spacecraft.
* Lead Technical Excellence - Work with the Electronics Team Lead to evaluate development scope, schedule, and risk while taking ownership of specific avionics units throughout their complete lifecycle.
* Support Space Operations – Evaluate the performance of your hardware through spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Test Phases and conduct in-orbit test and analysis.
* Own Spacecraft Subsystems - Take full responsibility and ownership of specific avionics units, from concept through on-orbit operations.
* Lead Technical Reviews - Drive and support spacecraft, subsystem, and unit design reviews that ensure mission success and technical excellence.
* Failure Analysis - Lead investigations various formal techniques to identify the root-cause of complex problems and prevent future failures.
* Pioneer New Technologies - Lead concept studies, trade studies, and design analysis for cutting-edge research and development activities.
* Drive Integration Excellence - Support Assembly, Integration, and Test of spacecraft systems in laboratory, cleanroom, and third-party facilities.
* Contribute to Mission Success - Work closely with Project Delivery Teams, Project Managers and System Architects to deliver complete solutions.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

* Education: Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline
* Design Excellence: Proven experience in schematic capture, PCB layout, circuit simulation, and hands-on prototyping.
* Technical Communication: Experience preparing technical documentation including design specifications, verification plans, test procedures, and engineering analysis reports.
* Electronics Experience: Early or mid-career engineer with electronics or space systems design experience.
* Systems Integration: End-to-end product development experience, from requirements through to product roll-out.

Highly Desirable Qualifications

* Electronics Expertise: Demonstrated experience in one or more of Embedded Processing Systems including 32 and 64-bit Arm Microcontroller and Microprocessor platforms, image sensor interface design or RF Communication system design for UHF, S-Band and X-Band.
* Development Tools: Competence with version control systems (Git, SVN) and collaborative development practices.
* Problem-Solving: Demonstrated resilience and systematic approach to solving complex technical challenges under pressure.
* Reliability Engineering: Experience with Design for Reliability (DFR), DFMEA, component derating, worst-case analysis, and fault tolerance techniques.
* Test & Validation: Hands-on experience with Electronics testing both at a circuit board and assembly level.
* Safety Standards: Knowledge of functional safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO and space engineering standards (ECSS, NASA-STD, GSFC-STD-7000A).
* Multi-Domain Skills: Experience with embedded software, firmware development, FPGA/HDL programming, and RF system design are highly.
* Industry Experience: Previous work in aerospace, defence, automotive, or other high-reliability industries.
* Advanced Analysis: Circuit simulation (SPICE), thermal analysis, power budget analysis, and EMC/EMI considerations.
* Project Management: Ability to work in and support the creation of agile and waterfall project management frameworks.

Position Details

Reports to: Electronics Team Leader

Location: Inovor's Headquarters, Lot Fourteen, Adelaide

Hours: Full time, 38 hours per week (negotiable)

Remuneration: Negotiable based on experience
