Job Summary
We are seeking a full‐time Land Use Planner to collaborate closely with Council, the community, the development industry, and government agencies to deliver sustainable and well‐considered land use planning outcomes across the MidCoast region.
Location & Tenure
Location: Taree, New South Wales (Administration Centre – Yalawanyi Ganya, 2 Biripi Way). The role may also be based at other Council sites across the region. Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
Responsibilities
* Finalise the draft Local Environmental Plan.
* Prepare the MidCoast Development Control Plan and Contribution Plans.
* Assess site‐specific rezoning proposals.
* Provide strategic planning advice to a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Contribute to the development of local planning strategies.
* Support the negotiation of Planning Agreements.
* Collaboratively engage, negotiate and influence outcomes for Land Use Planning initiatives.
* Problem‐solve and manage multiple project timelines within regulatory and strategic frameworks to deliver innovative, practical and ecologically sustainable land use planning solutions.
Qualifications
* Working knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and other relevant legislation.
* Tertiary qualifications in town planning or a related discipline.
* Demonstrated experience in strategic land use planning or urban design.
* Ability to undertake the full range of strategic planning projects with minimal supervision and to work effectively in teams.
* Highly developed communication skills and experience in effective community consultation.

Salary & Superannuation
Salary range: $94,560 – $106,724 p.a. plus superannuation.
