As our portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking a seasoned Electrical Program Manager (Discipline Lead) to oversee the electrical and instrumentation engineering workstream for a major capital program. This role plays a critical leadership function across all phases of delivery—from design through to commissioning—ensuring systems are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest technical standard.
About the Role
This senior role is responsible for end-to-end management of all electrical, control, and instrumentation scope within the capital works program. You will be accountable for discipline governance, team coordination, technical assurance, and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle. As the key interface between engineering, construction, commissioning, and client teams, you will ensure quality and continuity across all phases of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead electrical and instrumentation engineering for the assigned capital program
* Promote Zero Harm principles and embed safety in all technical activities
* Oversee design reviews, calculations, documentation, and quality control
* Manage procurement specifications, tender processes, and vendor selection
* Support site execution and commissioning for LV distribution, drives, controls, and instrumentation
* Monitor and report on cost, schedule, risk, and progress against project milestones
* Coordinate cross-functional technical input to ensure integrated delivery
* Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to broader project leadership
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
* Minimum 10 years' experience in project-based electrical engineering roles within heavy industry
* Proven experience across major capital projects and complex operational environments
* Strong understanding of industrial automation, LV distribution, instrumentation, and control systems
* Experience with HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, and hazardous area compliance
* Familiarity with Australian electrical standards and commissioning frameworks
* Exceptional communication, leadership, and coordination capabilities
* Engineers Australia registration (preferred)
